Internet win: Chat Roulette + Call Me Maybe

Yessss we’re all tired of these “Call Me Maybe” videos but YOU MUST WATCH THIS ONE. Don’t watch the Olympic swim team video, don’t watch the Abercrombie model video, watch THIS one!

[via Huffington Post]

It’s been done by the Harvard baseball team, “President Obama” and even Cookie Monster. It’s been done in so many ways by so many people that we thought — surely— it’d be categorically impossible to make a “Call Me Maybe” parody that was still funny.

But Steve Kardynal (of shake weight fame) has proved us wrong.

In this cringe-worthy YouTube video, Kardynal — lipsticked, bearded and scantily clad in women’s garb — shimmies and shakes in front of a Chatroulette crowd that alternates between delighted reactions and those of utter disgust.

Kardynal, known for his outlandish antics, is in top form as he lip-syncs and gyrates his way through Carly Rae Jepson’s hit song, but the priceless reactions of the other users on the online chat website are the true stars of the clip.

And though we know that the world probably doesn’t need any more “Call Me Maybes,” the grimaces of all those shirtless men sitting in half-dark rooms makes this one well worth it.

Music Video Made Entirely in Excel

My excel spreadsheets are not nearly this interesting. YouTube’s MysteryGuitarMan is showing us how the mundane can be a medium for insane creativity. He is also inspiring me to waste my day trying to figure out how to do this become a better employee.

I wonder what other office equipment can be used for extreme procrastination art…

**Actually these are pretty cool – pieces made of packing tape, pushpins, and staples

The Doors Sing “Reading Rainbow” Theme

My lurvely friend, Beryl, tipped me off to this amazing little nugget. It’s Jimmy Fallon Jim Morrison singing the theme to “Reading Rainbow” and it’s GOLD. I’m really hoping this starts a trend of awesome childhood show theme-song covers. My list of songs I’d like to see cover include:

  • The theme to “Wishbone
  • The theme to “My Little Pony
  • The theme to “Arthur
  • The theme to “Fraggle Rock
  • Really any of these – Rainbow Brite, Muppet Babies, Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Ducktales, Chip ‘N Dale Rescue Rangers, Talespin, Darkwing Duck, Snorks, Tiny Toon Adventures, Inspector Gadget, A Pup named Scooby-Doo, Garfield and Friends, Welcome to Pooh Corner,  Eureeka’s Castle, Babar

BEST.DOG.COSTUME.EVER.

I never thought I’d say this… but I’m really jealous of this dog’s costume! Like… I want that for real.

And what are they carrying in that present?! Obviously it’s heavy since it requires two dogs… and all children know that the heavier the box, the better the gift… I’m going with lifetime supply of Ryan Lochte dolls.

Yep. Greatest Olympian of all time. That’s all.

Health Ledger’s Inspiration fot the Joker?

Few performances are as memorable as Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight and this video might just be his inspiration for the character:

Now Kotaku and Newsarama have tipped us to a 1979 interview of Tom Waits which is eerily similar to The Joker’s voice, inflections, and mannerisms. Thinking Heath Ledger’s inspiration for The Joker may have been Tom Waits isn’t as far-fetched as it seems. The two worked together in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, a movie which took so long to develop that it’s conceivable the two could have met at some point before The Dark Knight filmed.

A then 29-years-old Tom Waits can be seen shambling, smirking, and being captivatingly weird in a 1979 Australian talk show hosted by Don Lane in the video below. Skip to 1:30 to see the start of the interview.
